Matomo 5.5 adds AI bots into analytics

Matomo (initially known as Piwik) recently released version 5.5 of its open source web analytics software.

The new version added an important change to distinguish between classic search bots/crawlers and newer AI bots.

After the installation or upgrade to Matomo 5.5, you will notice the "AI Assistant" category within the "Channel Types":

This helps website owners to distinguish the bot traffic.
